I was born into an entrepreneurial family.  My first business was selling hot dogs, pop and coffee at my parent's auctions.  It was a great gig, they paid for all the supplies, and I kept 100% of the sales.  I've never been able to beat that profit margin.

By the time as 15, I was writing all the ad copy and laying out the auction ads and flyers. I loved marketing even in high school and studied all the classic marketing books. I'll never forget the 1987 release "Words That Sell" by Richard Bayan, it's still a favorite quick reference.

I've had a long history in the digital marketing space.

I can actually say I was marketing online before internet access was even available in my hometown of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

I designed/built/hosted a Dial-Up BBS (Bulletin Board System) where users could dial in with their computer's modem through the phone lines into my server.

It was a fully graphical system much like today's web pages and included file downloads, messaging, games, and more.

I used the BBS to promote my computer sales and repair business to its 3000+ user accounts.

I was even named "World's Greatest SysOp" (System Operator) by the users and still have the trophy on my shelf to prove it. We'll overlook the fact that there is no governing body for such things and they sure had no authority to award anything... but it still made me proud.

In 2001 I designed my first e-commerce business site which propelled our little power equipment business into one of the TOP 3 Honda generator dealers in the United States.  All from our little town of <25,000 people.

Our equipment site often outranked even the manufacturer's sites for big keywords... for every brand / product line we carried.

The story continues...

Since those early days of doing our in-house digital marketing I've done freelance work for friends, family and business associates and was able to duplicate the same success for their varied businesses.
