Bounce House Google Ads Not Working? Fix Low Clicks & Get Bookings
Bounce House Google Ads Not Working? You’re Probably Running the Wrong Campaign Type

Why Your Bounce House Google Ads Aren’t Getting Clicks
I've noticed many bounce house business owners asking in Facebook groups:
"Why aren't my Google Ads getting many clicks?"
If your bounce house Google Ads aren’t working, you’re not alone. A ton of factors go into visibility, clicks, and bookings…
- location targeting
- budget
- competition
- ad strength
- relevance
- headline choices
- landing page selection
- and many more
I've been running Google Ads since 2001… so I’ve had 25 years to watch the system change and evolve.
But there’s one major problem I see over and over again when I take on a new account…
The Real Problem: Google “Smart” Campaigns
It all starts with the campaign type.
Here's my recent answer to the question: You may be running a “Smart” campaign which I believe is still the default if you start running ads by click the “advertise” links on the Google Business Profile.
What Are Google Smart Campaigns?
“Smart” campaigns are basically automated and take very little setup, but instead of targeting specific keywords and ad placements, Google goes with very broad “keyword themes” and spreads the placements around very liberally often showing/spending money on display ads on random sites instead of showing up at the top of search results.
If it only took 10 minutes to set up… that’s probably a “Smart” campaign.

This is why most Google Ads for bounce house rentals underperform.
Why Smart Campaigns Don’t Work for Bounce House Rentals
In my view, those are “smart” for Google (since they decide how to spend your money) but they end up being MUCH more expensive in cost per conversion and get FAR fewer clicks per $.
Why Search Campaigns Work Better for Bounce House Rentals
With “Search” campaigns you can target the exact specific items you carry and show them in search exactly when a person is looking for exactly what you offer.
This is where most of the real leads come from… showing up when someone is actively searching. That’s the same principle behind local SEO as well, just on the organic side instead of paid.
Avoid Wasting Money on Display and YouTube Ads
You can choose not to run Display, YouTube, and Shopping ads and stick to “Search” ads which display in search results and maps.
The Best Google Ads Strategy for Small Bounce House Budgets
My recommendation, especially with smaller budgets is to go Search campaigns only… Display ads and the rest can be used for retargeting and brand building but in a service based business like ours, they should be a much smaller part of the ad spend.
Show Up When People Are Actually Searching
Keyword Targeting and Match Types
Search ads do take more time to set up since you create the keyword list (and match types) as well as a negative keyword list to specify what you DON’T want to show up for…
For instance:
- “bounce house rentals” = MATCH
- “car rentals” = No Match / Negative.
In that instance, you’d want “car” as a negative keyword.
Should You Run Your Own Google Ads or Hire an Expert
Running cost effective PPC ads take time more time to setup and lots of time to learn how to be the most effective.
There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than most people realize… and small tweaks can make a big difference in cost per click and bookings.
The Hidden Cost of Doing It Yourself
It comes down to investing the time yourself or paying someone with the skill set to do it for you.
Why a Good PPC Manager Pays for Themselves
A good PPC manager doesn’t just run ads…
They:
- eliminate wasted spend
- improve targeting
- increase conversion rates
In most cases, they save more than they cost.
Plus… you’re paying someone to represent your business…
not handing full control over to Google.
Want Better Results From Your Bounce House Google Ads?
If you’d rather not spend months figuring this out (and potentially wasting money along the way), working with someone who already knows how to structure profitable campaigns can save you a lot in the long run.
If your Google Ads aren’t getting clicks or bookings, there’s usually a reason… and it’s almost always fixable.
The challenge is figuring out what’s actually wrong without wasting a bunch of money trying to guess your way through it.
